Trump Denies Running TRUMP Coin as Token Slides 5%

Key takeaways:

  • TRUMP's price weakness stems from insider-held supply and futures selling, not Oval Office remarks.
  • With 72% insider allocation, TRUMP remains structurally prone to dilution risk through scheduled unlocks.
  • Watch Sept. 30 snapshot for short-term catalyst; broader sentiment stays cautious on political tokens.

U.S. President Donald Trump distanced himself from the official TRUMP memecoin during a Sept. 4 Oval Office exchange, saying he does not run or focus on the token. In footage published by Asia One News, Trump said: “I don’t run it. I don’t focus on that, but somebody told me it sells very well.”

The statement addressed personal operational control, but published project documents describe a multi-entity corporate structure. The official website names Fight Fight Fight LLC as the provider of the site and related services. The allocation and trademark disclosures then identify three other entities: CIC Digital LLC, a Trump Organization affiliate that shares the disclosed 80% token allocation and is designated to receive trading revenue; Celebration Cards LLC, the disclosed owner of Fight Fight Fight and another trading-revenue recipient; and DTTM Operations LLC, which owns the TRUMP trademark and licenses the president’s name, image and likeness.

The project says 200 million TRUMP tokens were available at launch, with total supply set to grow to one billion over three years. CIC Digital and Fight Fight Fight collectively own 80% of that allocation under release schedules extending across the three-year period. The disclosure does not mean 800 million tokens are already liquid or immediately available for sale, and the split between the two companies is not public. The terms allow Fight Fight Fight, CIC Digital or affiliates to sell, transfer or otherwise dispose of tokens under announced plans or through other permitted arrangements, and allow an independent custodian or broker to control timing, price and volume of individual trades.

Trading data showed the token under pressure. CoinMarketCap placed TRUMP at $2.26, down 5.61% over 24 hours and ranked 74th among listed crypto assets. TradingView’s daily chart recorded a Sept. 4 open near $2.3878, a high at $2.45, a low at $2.10 and a close near $2.2692, a daily decline of roughly 5.05%. CoinGecko showed a similar price near $2.27, with a 5.40% daily loss and a 12.40% weekly decline, about $339.9 million in turnover and a $594.2 million market capitalization. The reports noted the decline could not be attributed solely to Trump’s remarks, with token movements to exchanges, broader market conditions and derivatives activity also affecting the trading environment.

Fibonacci levels placed resistance at $2.5257, $2.8042 and $3.1454, with nearby support around $1.8601. CoinGlass data showed roughly $203.4 million in open futures positions, about $711 million in 24-hour futures volume and spot turnover near $145.6 million, meaning futures activity was almost five times spot volume. DefiLlama listed 261.88 million tokens in circulation against a one-billion maximum supply, with insiders holding 72.2% of the current allocation.

The disclosures support a distinction between personal operation and licensed branding, but they do not reveal who approves major sale or commercial decisions. Trump’s annual filing previously reported substantial income connected to the memecoin business, adding to public ethics debate over digital assets issued by officials. The next dated catalyst for the project is the Sept. 30 Coin Club snapshot, which the official page says will determine leaderboard standings for an October event.
