The Ethereum Foundation has released two major publications shaping the next phase of Ethereum’s roadmap, centered on the planned Hegotá upgrade. The Protocol Cluster published the first unified Ethereum Improvement Proposal rating list for a single network upgrade, evaluating all 62 proposed EIPs for Hegotá.
Approximately 60 researchers, engineers, and domain experts from nine different teams inside Protocol Cluster participated in the review. They submitted 397 evaluation comments, with some of the more controversial proposals discussed in face-to-face meetings. The published tier list is expected to guide decisions on which EIPs will be included in the final upgrade scope.
In a second announcement, the Ethereum Foundation outlined long-term development priorities for the protocol layer. The most notable goal is making the Ethereum Layer 1 network quantum-resistant by December 2029. The foundation said the Hegotá upgrade scope was determined by considering Protocol Cluster’s long-term technical commitments and shared team priorities.
A Reddit AMA is scheduled for September 16, allowing the community to engage directly with Protocol Cluster about the EIP ratings, the Hegotá upgrade, and Ethereum’s quantum-resistance roadmap.
