OKX has announced two ecosystem initiatives in early September 2026 that aim to improve wallet efficiency and expand its Layer 2 developer activity. On September 7, the exchange introduced streamlined looping strategies for wallet users, enabling them to execute a borrow-swap-supply sequence in a single transaction instead of managing manual steps and paying separate compounding fees. Users can select their loop count, review projected returns and borrowing costs, and complete the entire process within the OKX wallet.
The new wallet feature is designed to reduce transaction costs and lower barriers for users seeking automated looping strategies. OKX said the simplification could attract more activity to its wallet ecosystem at a time when broader crypto market momentum remains mixed. The company noted that 24-hour wallet activity remained at $0 in reported volume, but expects the new functionality to stimulate engagement as traders look for more cost-effective DeFi options.
On September 8, OKX followed up with a $100,000 developer competition focused on building projects on X Layer, the exchange’s Layer 2 network. Developers are encouraged to create tokenized stock applications and AI-native products, with remote builds eligible. The application deadline is September 11, 2026, underscoring the short window for participation. OKX said the initiative aims to foster innovation in real-world asset infrastructure and attract new talent to the X Layer ecosystem.
Although X Layer currently shows no reported 24-hour trading volume, OKX is positioning the competition as a catalyst for renewed developer and user interest. The combination of streamlined wallet looping and a developer incentive program highlights OKX’s broader push into DeFi efficiency, real-world assets, and AI-focused blockchain applications.
