Prosecutors in the State of Mexico have said the suspects in the killing of musician Jonathan “Honas” Meléndez and three others at his family home in Atizapán de Zaragoza on September 1 were looking for a Bitcoin cold wallet believed to contain assets worth millions.
The case has circulated online as a $1.5 million Bitcoin wallet murder, but available official accounts do not confirm that exact balance. Authorities have identified the victims as Meléndez, his pregnant wife, their daughter, and a household worker; the family dog was also killed.
Two suspects remain detained while a judge reviews prosecution evidence. The prosecutor’s office has not publicly verified the widely reported wallet value, and no cited official record confirms the figure.
