Nu Holdings Ltd. has introduced Nu Global, a multi-currency digital account that integrates Circle’s stablecoins USDC and EURC. The product automatically converts customer deposits into digital dollars or euros, enabling instant, fee-free cross-border transfers to more than 35 countries, with initial priority across Latin America, the United States and Europe.
The launch is Nu’s largest blockchain infrastructure integration to date and is part of a broader U.S. expansion through Lead Bank, an FDIC-insured partner bank. The U.S. account offers a variable 3.50% APY, a debit card and a Mastercard World Elite credit card with no annual fee and unlimited 1.5% cashback. Eligible customers may later earn up to 4.50% APY on savings balances up to $10,000 if they meet transaction and product holding requirements.
Nu Global advertises daily variable yields equivalent to 3.50% APY on USDC and 2.20% APY on EURC, along with a virtual Mastercard with no foreign exchange markup fees. The company has not disclosed how yields are generated, which legal entity holds the stablecoins or whether those balances receive deposit insurance. Supported markets cover much of the European Union and several Latin American countries, with planned integrations for Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and the United States in the coming months.
Nu’s national bank charter remains conditional. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency granted conditional approval on Jan. 29, but Nubank, N.A. must still secure Federal Reserve and FDIC approvals. U.S. chief executive Cristina Junqueira said the bank is expected to begin operating in 2027. The company serves more than 140 million customers, reported $1.06 billion in net income for Q2 2026, and said the new account will also offer custody and trading options for assets including Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana.
