Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP are approaching critical technical decision zones ahead of the September 15 weekly close, after the broader crypto market's recent recovery attempt. Traders are watching whether the largest digital assets can hold key support levels and build fresh momentum.
Bitcoin is trading near $77,663 to $78,490 after falling back from the $81,200 area, leaving the $78,000 level as the most important short-term defense. According to analyst Michaël van de Poppe, if BTC holds $78,000, the next major target is $81,000. The one-hour chart shows first resistance between $79,200 and $79,600, followed by a stronger supply zone at $80,400 to $81,200. On the downside, a break below $78,000 opens the way toward $77,887, $77,499 and $76,200, with the broader recovery low near $75,779. A weekly close below $78,300 and failure to reclaim it could weaken the structure and drag Bitcoin toward the larger weekly support near $72,850.
Ethereum appears stronger, with buyers defending the key $2,482.7 Fibonacci support after its August breakout. XRP is testing whether it can extend its recovery beyond the $1.4259 resistance; a successful push above that level could bring $1.50 into focus.
The broader Bitcoin picture also includes significant institutional interest. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs now hold more than $100.04 billion in assets, while more than 20 U.S. states are working on bills related to Bitcoin treasury holdings. A potential federal Strategic Bitcoin Reserve could create another demand source. In decentralized finance, Stacks' sBTC aims to bring non-custodial Bitcoin into DeFi for liquidity and collateral, though adoption and technical execution remain key.
For the coming sessions, Bitcoin's ability to hold $77,800 to $78,000 will determine whether BTC can push toward $79,200 to $79,600 and eventually retest $80,400 to $81,200. Ethereum's defense of $2,482.7 and XRP's reaction at $1.4259 are similarly important. Failure to hold these levels would shift the short-term outlook toward deeper consolidation.
