South Korean hardware wallet maker DCENT, developed by IoTrust Co., Ltd., has issued a critical security alert after detecting anomalous asset transfers involving the DCENT App Wallet. The company urged users to transfer their funds “as soon as possible to a secure hardware wallet or another trusted address.”
According to DCENT, the issue appears to be limited to the App Wallet based on initial findings. Users holding funds in the App Wallet, regardless of amount, and those using the same mnemonic phrase in both the App Wallet and a hardware wallet are considered affected. Users who only connected a device without entering a seed phrase in the application do not need to take action.
The cause and full scope remain unconfirmed. DCENT said it is prioritizing the investigation and will provide updates through official channels. The company also warned users to remain alert to impersonation and phishing attempts.
The incident follows a string of recent on-chain security events: Swiss Bitcoin Pay was infiltrated by a user and temporarily halted operations; the bitcoin bridge of Symbiosis was exploited; Nomic's nBTC lost its backing; and the BTC reserves of Liquid Network were partially drained, with attackers retaining approximately 600 BTC after a partial recovery.
