Key takeaways:

  • BitGo's compliance hire signals regulatory readiness as BTGO seeks institutional trust post-IPO.
  • NYDIG deal and $2B volume show BitGo betting on institutional infrastructure, not retail hype.
  • Regulatory scrutiny risk rises as BitGo merges banking, custody, and stablecoin services under federal oversight.

BitGo has appointed Alex Rozman as chief compliance officer, effective September 21, placing the former Exodus Movement compliance executive in charge of enterprise compliance and financial crime programs. Rozman brings more than 25 years of compliance, legal, risk, AML, and sanctions experience across banking, financial-market infrastructure and digital asset businesses.

The appointment follows BitGo's transition to a publicly traded company under federal oversight. BitGo Holdings listed Class A shares on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker BTGO on January 22, while its banking subsidiary moved under federal supervision after the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency approved BitGo Trust Company's conversion into BitGo Bank & Trust, National Association in December 2025. BitGo reported 5,833 clients and $65.2 billion in assets on platform during the second quarter of 2026, up from 4,621 clients a year earlier.

Rozman will lead engagement with regulators, examiners and banking authorities across BitGo's legal entities worldwide, covering federally regulated custody, trading, financing, stablecoin services and institutional settlement. CEO Mike Belshe called Rozman “a key addition” to the leadership team, saying his experience would support risk management and regulatory work. Rozman previously served as chief compliance officer at Exodus Movement from May 2024 and led global compliance at Polygon Technology, with earlier roles at CLS Bank International, Deloitte and Navigant Consulting.

The hiring comes as BitGo accelerates institutional expansion. In August, BitGo completed its acquisition of NYDIG's institutional trading business, adding derivatives, structured products, financing and execution services. Institutional clients later passed $2 billion in cumulative notional volume executed through CROSSx and cleared through BitGo's Go Network.
