Cardano has recovered from its late June low near $0.13 and now trades around $0.22, but the network still has fundamental hurdles that could prevent ADA from sustaining a larger rally. The price has carved an ascending channel with higher highs and higher lows since the June bottom, keeping the recovery structure intact. The next important test is resistance near $0.25; a break above that level could bring $0.30 into focus, with a potential move toward $0.50 if momentum continues.
However, the article argues that chart strength alone is not enough. Cardano's DeFi liquidity remains thin relative to the network's multibillion-dollar market value. Dollar-denominated total value locked, or TVL, has fallen well below the late 2024 peak of roughly $680 million to $700 million. Adjusting for ADA's price decline, ADA-denominated TVL is estimated at 365 million to 552 million ADA, compared with more than 600 million ADA at the earlier peak. That suggests a smaller decline in deposited tokens, but stablecoin liquidity is still limited, making larger trades harder and giving market makers less reason to bring capital into Cardano apps.
Network activity also presents problems. Average daily transactions were about 90,294 in 2022, but only 24,869 across the first eight months of 2026, a drop of roughly 72.5%. A reported 63% rise in monthly active addresses to about 306,600 offers a more optimistic signal, but monthly active addresses only count wallets that appeared at least once during the period, not daily returning users. Cardano's liquid staking model also means delegated ADA is not locked away from sale, so a large staking community does not automatically create daily app activity or transaction demand.
For a stronger recovery, the article says Cardano needs measurable progress across multiple metrics at the same time: higher DeFi deposits measured in ADA, deeper stablecoin liquidity, consistent daily transactions, app use, and fee growth. A sustained rally becomes more credible if network activity improves alongside price, not just in one busy week. Until then, ADA's upside may remain more technical than fundamental.
