Key takeaways:

  • Single Coinbase-originated burn suggests exchange wallet consolidation, not organic demand, limiting SHIB's bullish signal.
  • Despite burn spike, weekly and monthly rates declining 25% and 86% reveal fading SHIB momentum.
  • Peter Brandt's two-year six-fold altcoin forecast may lift SHIB sentiment, but burn trends must confirm.

Shiba Inu’s daily burn rate exploded by 31,712% on September 20, 2026, with 72.23 million SHIB removed from circulation in a single day, according to Shibburn.

Nearly all of the daily burn came from one transaction of 69,382,214 SHIB originating from the crypto exchange Coinbase. Over the last seven days, 111.41 million SHIB have been burned, and 476.96 million SHIB have been burned over the past 30 days. Weekly and monthly burn rates were down 25.06% and 86.19%, respectively.

In total, 410,844,342,553,194 SHIB have been burned across 21,855 transactions, worth about $7.36 billion and representing 41.08% of Shiba Inu’s initial supply of one quadrillion tokens.

SHIB’s price climbed from $0.00000474 on Wednesday to a high of $0.00000570 on Saturday, moving above its daily MA 50 and MA 200 before meeting resistance. At the time of writing, SHIB traded at $0.000005362, down 2.45% over 24 hours but up 2.86% over seven days. Veteran trader Peter Brandt also noted a possible six-fold move in altcoins over the next two years.
