Key takeaways:

  • No direct crypto catalyst here; treat Intel/AMD strength as sentiment, not fundamentals for AI tokens.
  • AI-compute tokens like FET, RNDR, TAO may see sympathy bids if semis momentum persists.
  • Watch Intel's Oct. 22 earnings for AI CPU demand read-through to AI-compute tokens.

Intel shares jumped about 6% in premarket trading on Monday, extending a powerful rebound after closing Friday at $108.60. The stock was already up 194% in 2026 through Friday and added to gains of 4% on Wednesday and 8% on Thursday. Catalysts included enthusiasm around Meta’s new Muse AI agent, reported discussions with Taiwan’s AUO on advanced Micro LED packaging, and a stronger technology session.

Meta’s Muse AI agent has ranked as the most downloaded free U.S. iPhone app for three consecutive days, according to Sensor Tower data cited by Barron’s. Investors are focusing on what wider use of autonomous AI agents could mean for CPU demand, because inference workloads can require more server CPUs alongside GPUs. Arm estimates the server CPU market could grow more than 35% annually to reach $120 billion by 2030, while AMD has projected a potential market of around $220 billion. Intel, Arm, and AMD all moved higher, with AMD up about 3% and Arm gaining more than 4% in early trading.

Separately, reports from Taiwan said Intel is in talks with AUO on advanced packaging using Micro LED technology and glass substrates for co-packaged optics and high-density computing. DigiTimes said the companies are still in discussions, while Investing.com described the development as a partnership. No commercial volumes or product timetable were provided. Intel’s next earnings report is currently expected on Oct. 22.

AMD also surged about 8% on Monday, reaching a fresh all-time high near $584.95 and later trading around $603. The stock has climbed more than 250% over the past 12 months, lifting its market value above $900 billion. Piper Sandler reiterated an Overweight rating and a $600 target, while Stifel maintained a Buy rating with a $635 target. Raymond James upgraded AMD to Strong Buy in August and raised its target to $641, and BMO Capital initiated coverage at Outperform with a $550 target. Demand is reportedly still running ahead of supply across parts of AMD’s product portfolio, with revenue up roughly 40% over the past 12 months.
