X announced the launch of Cashtag Partners on September 21, 2026, creating a direct path from financial posts to external trading platforms. Eligible users can open a supported cashtag such as $BTC, view market information and related posts, and then select a trading partner. The initial U.S. rollout includes Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Interactive Brokers and Moomoo.
The new flow works as follows: a user selects a cashtag, views a live chart and related content, chooses one of the participating brokers or exchanges, signs in or opens an account, and then reviews and places the order on that partner’s platform. X does not execute trades itself, and any Bitcoin purchased is held or withdrawn under the selected exchange’s rules rather than inside an X profile.
X also cautioned that the price shown beside a cashtag is informational and not necessarily an executable quote. Final execution prices can depend on the partner’s order book, spread and fees, and may change during the handoff, especially in fast-moving markets.
Kraken confirmed it supports Cashtags covering nearly 2,500 assets across centralized and decentralized trading. Interactive Brokers said U.S. investors can continue from an asset page on X to the IBKR platform to research or submit orders, with eligible new clients able to receive a $100 promotional credit. Moomoo described itself as one of X’s first U.S.-regulated brokerage partners.
The program builds on Smart Cashtags, which X began rolling out earlier in 2026. A previous April pilot with Wealthsimple in Canada drove an estimated $1 billion in global trading volume within several days, according to X. Product Engineering Lead Mridul Singhai said, “Cashtags close the gap between a ticker on the timeline and the market itself.”
X has not disclosed referral payments, revenue-sharing arrangements or when the five-partner program might expand beyond the United States. The Cashtag trading feature is separate from X Money, the platform’s payments product.
