The XRP Ledger is approaching a mandatory infrastructure deadline: every server operator must be running xrpld 3.3.0 by Monday, September 29, at approximately 14:06 UTC or be cut off from the network. The trigger is the BatchV1_1 amendment, which crossed the XRP Ledger's activation threshold with roughly 82.86% validator support and is now set to switch on automatically at the next flag ledger.
Operators running older software will become amendment-blocked, meaning their servers will stop applying transactions, stop validating, and drop out of consensus until they upgrade. This matters most for validators, exchanges, custodians, payment providers, and API or analytics services that read the ledger directly. A blocked exchange or custodian can see deposits and withdrawals stall, while API providers and block explorers may return stale data. Recovery requires installing the compatible build and resyncing, which is not instant.
XRP holders are unaffected. Anyone who owns XRP or trades it on an exchange that maintains current nodes does not need to act. XRP traded around $1.47 on Thursday, down about 2% on the day but up roughly 13% on the week, with the market largely unmoved by a change that matters more to network plumbing than to token price.
The deadline is conditional until it arrives. Under XRP Ledger rules, an amendment must maintain at least 80% support from trusted validators for two continuous weeks. As of September 22, published support was 30 of 35 validators. If support slips to 80% or below before activation, the countdown resets. The 3.3.0 release bundles six amendments, five of which are still gathering validator support.
The Batch feature itself is the main prize. It allows users to bundle up to eight transactions that execute together under a chosen rule. Its four modes are All or Nothing, Only One, Until Failure, and Independent. The All or Nothing mode provides atomic settlement, so multi-step operations such as a swap and a payment can settle as a single unit instead of risking a half-finished state. The original Batch amendment was disabled after a critical bug was discovered, and RippleX resubmitted the corrected code as BatchV1_1. Ripple says asset managers are preparing to use batched settlement once it is live, and the same upgrade cycle lays groundwork for an XRP Ledger lending protocol and other institutional features.
