Binance Wallet Enables USDT Gas Payments on Ethereum, Solana, BNB Chain and TRON

Key takeaways:

  • USDT gas payments could reduce friction, boosting stablecoin utility across BNB, ETH, SOL, and TRON.
  • Watch for increased USDT-denominated on-chain activity, but native tokens may see weaker gas demand.
  • TRON's zero-gas promotion may attract short-term USDT flows, yet sustainability depends on post-promotion adoption.

Binance Wallet has introduced the ability to pay blockchain gas fees with USDT on four major networks: BNB Smart Chain, Ethereum, Solana and TRON, as of Sept. 25, 2026. The update removes a longstanding friction point: users no longer need to hold each network's native gas token before making a transaction.

According to Binance's updated support documentation, users with USDT in their Binance Wallet can select the stablecoin as the network fee payment method through the Network Fee Payer interface when signing supported transactions. Previously, users generally needed BNB on BNB Smart Chain, ETH on Ethereum, SOL on Solana and TRX on TRON. A wallet without the required native token could be unable to complete an on-chain transaction even when it held the asset being transferred.

Binance emphasized that network fees still go to blockchain validators or network participants, not to Binance itself. The company said in its guide that “none of the network fee goes to Binance.” Network charges remain dynamic and are calculated based on current blockchain conditions. The company also said more networks will gain support later, though no rollout timetable was provided.

For users without enough USDT in Binance Wallet, supported balances held in Binance Exchange accounts on the same four networks can be used. The support page lists BNB, USDT, USDC, ETH and SOL among assets that can be used through eligible Spot, Funding or Earn balances. Users select the Exchange Account option when choosing how the network fee will be paid. Additional routes include transferring the required gas token from Binance Exchange, receiving it from another wallet, or buying supported assets with a bank card. Eligible users can also draw BNB from Spot or Funding accounts for gas on BNB Smart Chain, Ethereum and opBNB, provided they hold more than 0.01 BNB.

Separately, Binance Wallet is running a zero gas fee promotion for TRON transfers from Sept. 23 through Dec. 22, 2026. Eligible users can receive zero gas fees when sending USDT and other TRC-20 tokens through Binance Wallet. The offer is supported by TRON DAO and is subject to limited campaign availability. After the promotion, qualifying transfers will receive a discounted fee of 1 USDT per transaction.

The update does not change each blockchain's native fee mechanism. Ethereum has not replaced ETH with USDT at the protocol level, and the same applies to the other supported networks. Binance Wallet is handling the fee-payment process for the user, with network fees ultimately going to the blockchain network. For users, the practical outcome is simpler: holding USDT in a wallet is less likely to leave them unable to move it.
