Sony-backed Ethereum Layer 2 network Soneium has announced a partnership with South Korean entertainment company DayOneDream to bring K-pop intellectual property and entertainment revenue onchain. The collaboration will use DayOneDream’s WAVIST platform to develop tokenized products tied to cash flows from concerts, streaming, content and music rights.
DayOneDream manages artists including BTOB, Lee Chae Yeon, MeMi and 2F. According to the companies, WAVIST has already completed a full lifecycle for a K-pop IP-backed tokenized note in May, covering issuance, distribution, repayment and token burning. No specific artist, asset size or launch date has been disclosed for the first Soneium-based offering.
The announcement is being framed as an infrastructure partnership rather than an immediate public sale. Access for eligible users will be subject to applicable regulatory and eligibility requirements, and no trading venue, purchase mechanism or yield has been detailed yet. Executives described the move as a step toward connecting creators and IP owners with fans and investors.
“K-pop is a market unlike any other, yet the way capital reaches it has barely changed. Our partnership with Soneium sits where RWA, IP, and K-pop meet, and it opens a real path to investing through the IP itself,” said Dylan Cho, RWA Lead at DayOneDream.
Soneium’s Head of Protocol, Yuji Kumagai, added that entertainment IP is one of the clearest opportunities for bringing real-world value onchain and said K-pop is “a great place to start.”
