On September 30, 2026, the Blockchain Association announced the launch of a dedicated Vaults Workstream, bringing together dozens of member organizations to shape U.S. policy on onchain financial infrastructure. The group includes major crypto and investment firms such as a16z crypto, Uniswap, Grayscale, Morpho, and Aave.
The initiative aims to clarify how regulatory frameworks apply to different vault technologies, with members set to engage directly with the SEC and lawmakers. Discussions will examine how vaults differ in human control, governance, and risk, and how existing rules should be adapted rather than applied without regard to their technical functions.
The workstream was formed amid growing attention to DeFi vaults used for automated liquidity management, yield generation, and personalized investment strategies. The Blockchain Association said vaults could make onchain financial markets more transparent, efficient, composable, and accessible, while the group will support responsible innovation in the United States. Initial guidelines are expected in the coming weeks to defend the operational viability of vaults across the decentralized ecosystem.
