Midnight’s NIGHT Token Breaks Out as Privacy Demand and Institutional Backing Fuel Rally

1 hour ago 1 sources positive

Key takeaways:

  • NIGHT's rally relies on privacy narrative, but Monument's £250M deposits remain offchain, capping validation.
  • Stretched technicals above upper Bollinger Band suggest NIGHT is vulnerable to profit-taking near $0.045 resistance.
  • Watch NIGHT and ZEC for sustained privacy-sector outperformance; institutional adoption may signal structural trend.

Midnight’s NIGHT token has extended a powerful rally, climbing more than 22% in 24 hours to trade near $0.044 on Oct. 1, after earlier gaining about 17.73% to $0.03812. Weekly gains have reached roughly 84%, with market capitalization around $727 million and 24-hour trading volume above $120 million, according to CoinGecko.

The advance follows renewed attention on blockchain privacy and institutional use cases. WallStreetBets founder Jaime Rogozinski argued that institutions need privacy when moving large amounts of capital onchain, saying most people still don’t get the privacy thesis. His comments helped spotlight Midnight’s selective disclosure model, which allows applications to keep certain information private while proving other details for regulatory verification.

Midnight’s enterprise footprint has also supported the narrative. Google Cloud operates critical Midnight infrastructure and a federated node, while its Mandiant unit provides threat monitoring and incident response. A bank partnership is testing real-world privacy features: U.K.-regulated Monument Bank plans to mirror interest-bearing retail deposits on Midnight, with a first-phase target of £250 million in tokenized deposits, though that figure has not yet moved onchain. The network’s early federated operator group has included Worldpay, Bullish, MoneyGram, Pairpoint, eToro and AlphaTON Capital.

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson added another catalyst by saying, "Midnight will be bigger than ZCash," citing selective disclosure, private agents, zero-knowledge proofs, trusted execution environments and multiparty computation. The comparison is a forward-looking opinion, but it has drawn attention as privacy-focused assets outperformed parts of September.

Technical indicators show strong but stretched momentum. On the daily chart, NIGHT broke above a rising channel and traded above its upper Bollinger Band near $0.03806, with the 20-period midpoint near $0.02573. The MACD line stood near 0.00403, above the signal line near 0.00211, while the histogram remained positive near 0.00192. Earlier technical readings showed Aroon Up at 100% and a positive Awesome Oscillator reading of 0.00617. Resistance is seen near $0.044–$0.045 and then $0.04171 and $0.05349 from the prior daily structure; support references sit near $0.038, $0.033, $0.031 and the $0.030 round level.

Liquidation data from CoinGlass showed nearby bands around $0.0382–$0.0391 and $0.0394, with lower concentrations near $0.0355–$0.0370. A sustained break above $0.045 could extend the breakout, while a drop back toward $0.038 or below $0.031 would weaken the current recovery. Volatility is likely to remain elevated while NIGHT trades far above its 20-day average.
