Stacks (STX) rallied more than 20% in 24 hours to around $0.38, touching an intraday high near $0.414, after Stacks Labs announced that founder Muneeb Ali will become its new CEO. Ali takes over day-to-day leadership from interim CEO Alex Miller, who will move into an advisory role. The announcement was made on Sept. 30, and although some market commentary cited an Oct. 15 start date, Stacks Labs did not confirm that date.
The rally extends a strong run: STX traded around $0.3847 at the latest reading, up roughly 20.8% over 24 hours and 27.4% over seven days. Trading volume exceeded $140 million, while the token's market capitalization stood near $719 million. Ali said his priorities include bringing more Bitcoin capital onto the network, increasing institutional adoption, and advancing privacy tools and post-quantum security. Stacks' roadmap also targets a 100x throughput increase, improved programmable Bitcoin payments, and AI-agent infrastructure.
The leadership change follows the Sept. 10 launch of Stacks' Genesis Bond, an institutional Bitcoin staking product. Participants included 21Shares, HashKey Cloud, UTXO Management, and Sypher Capital. As of Sept. 24, institutions had bonded approximately 230 BTC alongside 310,000 STX and earned 0.28 BTC in weekly rewards; the STX position was worth roughly 5% of the bonded Bitcoin. The next Bonding Period opens Oct. 10 with capacity for 500 BTC, more than double Genesis participation, with about 10% reserved for pools. Separately, Anchorage Digital is developing custody support so clients can keep Bitcoin on Bitcoin L1 with Anchorage Digital Bank while participating in the staking bonds.
Technically, STX is testing resistance between $0.40 and $0.414. A sustained close above $0.4142 would extend the higher-high structure, while holding $0.34–$0.35 keeps the recent breakout intact. The Aroon Oscillator sits at +100, confirming a recent high, and the 14-period Average True Range of about $0.0306 points to elevated volatility.
