SuiNetwork launched Day 1 of its annual Basecamp event in Singapore on October 7, 2026, alongside Token2049 Singapore, with a flagship live demonstration on the Summit Stage at Marina Bay Sands. During the demo, the network's programmable Sui tunnels processed 40,614,180 transactions per second (TPS) on Sui mainnet, shattering its previous record of 6,086,766 TPS set on July 4, 2026, and surpassing its stated 20 million TPS target.
The first day’s program also included the Hudi Deathmatch and Summit Stage conversations on the future of agentic finance, reinforcing SuiNetwork’s focus on decentralized finance innovation before the record-setting test. The test was designed to prove the network’s resilience and speed under extreme capacity demands from AI agents and machine commerce.
More than ten thousand tunnels were opened on Sui mainnet within seconds across chat, games, and payments, all gaslessly and offchain. Sui tunnels work similarly to Lightning Network’s payment channels but are programmable, enabling a wider range of activities beyond payments.
Adeniyi Abiodun, Chief Product Officer and Co-Founder at Mysten Labs, said: "In an agentic economy, Sui doesn’t need to process every interaction. It needs to be the trust layer for all of them." He added that at 40 million TPS, onchain gas fees would cripple agent commerce, while tunnels require only two transactions — one to open and one to close — bringing intermediate costs close to zero while enabling privacy and offline use.
CertiK, a web3 security leader, served as independent auditor and will examine all associated data, including proofs, execution logs, journals and supporting evidence, with a report expected in the coming days. Sui is a next-generation Layer 1 blockchain built for onchain finance and agentic infrastructure, founded by the core team behind Meta’s stablecoin initiative.
