Key takeaways:

  • Visa's 200% stablecoin card growth signals structural payments adoption, potentially boosting USDT utility.
  • Gate's auto-conversion may create BTC/ETH sell pressure, yet broadens real-world crypto utility.
  • Watch GT demand if Gate Money adoption grows; regional KYC may cap near-term upside.

Gate has officially announced a partnership with Visa to launch a crypto-linked payment card across more than 40 countries and territories. The product will allow eligible users to spend digital assets online and in-store wherever Visa is accepted, with crypto automatically converted into fiat currency at the point of sale.

The card is managed through the Gate app and is positioned as part of the newly introduced Gate Money service. Gate said supported markets, eligibility requirements, supported assets and service availability will be detailed on the product page, with conditions varying by region.

Visa's global acceptance network spans more than 175 million merchant locations across more than 200 countries and territories. Visa also says more than 160 stablecoin-linked card programmes are now live globally, with payment volume up nearly 200% year-over-year.

Gate, founded in 2013, serves more than 61 million users and supports trading across 5,300+ crypto assets and 12,800+ stock assets. The platform also offers metals, stocks, indices, forex and commodities, and was among the first to implement 100% Proof of Reserves.

Gate CEO Dr. Han said the collaboration connects Gate accounts with commercial scenarios, making digital asset payments more intuitive. Nischint Sanghavi, Visa Head of Digital Currencies for APAC, said consumers want flexible, convenient and widely accepted payment methods.

Current Gate card documentation lists USDT, BTC, ETH and GT as supported assets under Instant Spend Mode, while prepaid mode supports a larger selection depending on card type, issuer and region. Applicants must complete Level 2 identity verification, and some cards require proof of address.

Gate had already launched card products in several regions earlier in 2026, including virtual and physical cards with Apple Pay and Google Pay support for certain products. A separate U.S. Visa card launched in July uses Stripe and Bridge, with Lead Bank as issuer and USDC as a supported stablecoin.

The broader expansion comes after Gate introduced Gate Money, which combines digital assets, fiat currencies, stocks, ETFs, gold, bank accounts and payments in one app, available after updating to version 8.39.0.
