Bitcoin delivered a 633.2% inflation-adjusted cumulative return in Taurex’s October 2026 comparison of 10 investment assets, placing it well ahead of silver, U.S. equities and gold. The online trading platform said the cryptocurrency achieved the result despite recording a roughly 25% decline over the previous year, underlining the strength of its longer-term performance since 2020.
Silver ranked second with a 60.7% real total return, followed by the dividend-inclusive S&P 500 at 57.3% and gold at 55.5%. The study adjusted for approximately 25% cumulative U.S. inflation and included dividends and interest where applicable. Seven of the 10 assets gained purchasing power, while savings accounts, U.S. aggregate bonds and palladium posted negative real returns. Palladium was last with a 62.7% cumulative real loss.
Elsewhere in the ranking, U.S. house prices returned 18.6% after inflation, farmland gained 10.4%, and U.S. REITs returned 1.6%. Taurex said a $10,000 gold investment at the starting point would have about $15,500 in purchasing power in 2020 dollars. The report also cited earlier JPMorgan analysis noting that Bitcoin and gold ETFs had faced simultaneous outflows, with reduced demand for currency-debasement trades rather than rotation from one asset to the other.
