Ethereum Leads RWA Expansion as Tron Dominates Weekly Stablecoin Inflows

Key takeaways:

  • Ethereum's $553M RWA gain versus Tron's $633.6M stablecoin inflow reveals bifurcated institutional versus payments liquidity.
  • Falling RWA transfer volume despite rising holders signals accumulation, raising XAUT, PAXG redemption liquidity risks.
  • Watch Ondo and bStocks as Morgan Stanley's 2027 tokenized equity entry may test their dominance.

The latest weekly on-chain data reveals a clear split in capital flows across the tokenized asset and stablecoin markets. According to figures from Token Terminal, Ethereum’s circulating real-world asset market capitalization increased by $553.1 million over the trailing seven days, outpacing the next largest gainers by a wide margin: zkSync Era added $126.1 million and BNB Chain added $68.7 million. This reinforces Ethereum’s role as the primary venue for institutional-grade RWA issuance, where liquidity depth and established custody solutions continue to attract tokenized Treasury and money-market products.

At the same time, stablecoin expansion favored Tron. Tron’s stablecoin market capitalization rose by $633.6 million in the same weekly window, nearly ten times the increase of second-place OP Mainnet at $64.1 million. X Layer added $61.9 million and Base $57.8 million. The pattern reflects Tron’s long-standing strength in low-cost USDT transfers, particularly for payment and remittance use cases across emerging markets.

The broader RWA trend remains strong. CoinGecko’s RWA Report 2026 placed the total market capitalization of tokenized real-world assets, excluding stablecoins, at $19.32 billion on 31 March 2026, up from $5.42 billion at the start of 2025 — a 256.7% increase over fifteen months. Tokenized Treasuries added about $9.00 billion, while tokenized commodities rose from $1.43 billion to $5.55 billion, with Tether’s XAUT and Paxos’ PAXG supplying 89.1% of that commodity expansion. Tokenized stocks and ETFs, which only appeared in mid-2025, reached $486.69 million and $297.50 million respectively.

SwapSpace CEO Evan Ceolini argued in a HackerNoon essay published on 11 October that RWA growth followed distribution infrastructure rather than product catalogs alone. He identified four drivers: usable product choice, on-chain collateral, demand for different risk drivers, and trading activity across spot and perpetual markets. Live data from RWA.xyz supports part of that view. Binance’s bStocks, launched in June through BTech Holdings under an Abu Dhabi prospectus, now leads tokenized stock value with $930.5 million across 91 listings. Ondo follows at $912.6 million from 408 listings and xStocks at $594.1 million from 1,270 listings, while Reality holds 3,159 underlying stocks but only $147.4 million in value.

Engagement figures point to a more cautious interpretation. RWA holders rose 21.54% over thirty days to 4.38 million, yet monthly transfer volume dropped 71.62% to $9.96 billion and monthly active addresses fell 65.98% to 1,178,006. That combination suggests accumulation rather than active trading. Ceolini warned that jurisdictional restrictions, fragmented liquidity, and operational redemption risks still constrain the sector. Morgan Stanley’s plan to support tokenized equities in the first quarter of 2027 could add a new distribution channel, with the bank’s analysts projecting tokenized RWAs to reach as much as $10 trillion by 2030.
