Key takeaways:

  • Whale profit-taking near $2,632 signals ETH may face overhead selling pressure short-term.
  • BTC-to-ETH rotation by another whale suggests capital is favoring Ethereum's relative value.
  • Watch ETH's reaction near $2,500 as mixed whale flows test market conviction.

A major Ethereum whale has fully exited a massive ETH position, banking a profit of approximately $24.48 million, according to blockchain analytics platform Lookonchain.

On October 14, the whale sold the final 9,996 ETH — worth roughly $25 million — from the wallet address 0x8c58. The sale completed the unwinding of a 52,001 ETH position that had been accumulated at an average cost of about $2,162 per ETH, representing an original investment of around $112.4 million.

The whale’s full exit was executed at an average selling price of $2,632 per ETH, securing the $24.48 million profit. Most of the position, 42,005 ETH worth approximately $111.89 million, had already been sold on September 24 during a broader crypto market downturn, leaving the final 9,996 ETH for this latest move.

Lookonchain also highlighted that not all large investors are reducing Ethereum exposure. On October 12, a separate whale sold 410.14 BTC (about $34.16 million) to buy 14,341 ETH (about $36.14 million) on decentralized exchanges, and later sold another 229 BTC (about $19.1 million) to purchase an additional 7,469.8 ETH. At the time of reporting, Ethereum was trading at $2,507.47, up 0.7% over 24 hours, according to CoinGecko.
