PancakeSwap has unveiled a major tokenomics overhaul known as The Flip, confirming that daily CAKE emissions will be reduced by 15,500 tokens — from 22,500 to 7,000 — while liquidity providers on PancakeSwap v3 and Infinity will retain 88% of swap fees, up materially from the previous 66–68% across supported chains.
The proposal, announced on October 14, 2026, is designed to boost liquidity provider engagement and strengthen the protocol's competitive positioning across its 11 supported chains. The 7,000 CAKE tokens still minted each day will be redirected into a new ecosystem growth fund called Pantry, while v2's fee structure remains unchanged, preserving ongoing deflationary pressure on CAKE.
The total CAKE supply is currently around 334 million tokens, reflecting a 14.5% decline from its peak, according to the platform. PancakeSwap also noted it holds more than 41% of bStocks volume, underscoring its significant role in the decentralized exchange landscape.
By increasing LP fee retention and cutting emissions, the proposal aims to realign incentives, reduce sell pressure from emissions, and encourage deeper liquidity. Market participants will likely watch whether the changes attract new liquidity providers and support CAKE’s token valuation as the fee structure evolves.
