Charles Edwards, CEO of Capriole Investments, said Bitcoin could experience a 30% to 50% price rally in a single day if Bitcoin Core developers reach consensus on a concrete quantum-security roadmap. Speaking to BMTV, Edwards described the quantum threat as tangible within a typical two-to-three-year investment horizon and said a coordinated plan for new signature schemes in the next 12 to 18 months could trigger a major repricing as investors reassess the network’s long-term security.
He suggested the next six to 12 months could be positive for BTC if development progresses, but warned that ongoing delays would leave the network more exposed as quantum technology advances and could force him to reconsider Bitcoin’s fair value. Coinbase added technical context in an October 13 blog post, stating that any post-quantum signature design should account for transaction fees and validation costs, and highlighting hybrid signatures as a possible transitional approach.
BTC was trading around $81,000 at the time of writing, down nearly 3% over 24 hours with a daily range of $80,400 to $84,000. Although the price was down more than 2% for the week and roughly 36% below its all-time high, Edwards noted that recovering hash rate over the past four to six weeks points to a possible cycle bottom. He also flagged interest rates as a short-term liquidity headwind, saying inflation tied to oil and the US-Iran conflict may not keep rates elevated for long.
