On October 15, Mastercard and BVNK launched the Global Money Platform, a business-facing service that combines fiat and stablecoin capabilities through a single API. The platform lets banks, fintechs and enterprises embed multi-currency accounts, real-time conversion, stablecoin-linked cards and local bank payouts into their own products, connecting traditional and digital money through one infrastructure layer.
The service integrates Mastercard Move, enabling businesses to use stablecoin balances for local-currency payments into recipients’ bank accounts. A marketplace collecting stablecoin payments from international customers can therefore settle suppliers in euros or dollars without holding the proceeds in the original token. BVNK provides stablecoin processing and account capabilities, while Mastercard Move supplies local bank payouts. The platform also supports retaining balances, sending stablecoins to external wallets, wallet transfers and card purchases as alternative uses of funds.
Mastercard named Nuvei, Marqeta, Ontop, Beem and Almond FinTech among the first companies set to integrate. BVNK describes three delivery models: Direct, Embedded and Self-managed, each with different responsibilities for onboarding, custody and operations.
The rollout is not yet complete. Stablecoin-linked cards carry a beta designation, and broader local bank payout coverage—more than 40 currencies across more than 200 countries and territories—is expected in 2027. Tokenised deposits and agentic commerce are identified as future support. Payment timing depends on the route: FedNow and RTP are instant in the US, standard ACH settles next business day, SWIFT can take one to five business days, SEPA Instant operates continuously while standard SEPA Credit Transfer follows a business-day timetable. Conversion rates incorporate market volatility, liquidity, transaction size and settlement date, so actual savings and speed must be assessed on the specific payment route.
