XDC Network Taps Concordium for Exclusive AI Agent Identity Verification

Key takeaways:

  • Exclusive identity verification may make XDC a compliance-friendly hub for institutional AI payments.
  • Sponsored Concordium fees reduce developer friction but may limit near-term CCD token utility.
  • Verified agents could set trust standard, boosting USDC utility across Ethereum and Solana ecosystems.

XDC Network, an EVM-compatible Layer-1 blockchain focused on payments, trade finance and real-world assets, has selected Concordium as the exclusive identity verification layer for its XDC AI agent payments marketplace, the companies announced on 14–15 October 2026.

Launched in July 2026, XDC AI provides autonomous agents with non-custodial wallets to discover and pay for services in USDC using the x402 payment standard. The new Concordium integration adds an on-chain verification badge confirming that a verified individual or business stands behind each agent, without publicly disclosing the owner's identity.

Agent owners can complete verification in minutes through the Concordium Wallet by submitting a government-issued ID and passing a liveness check conducted by an independent identity provider. They then link an XDC wallet with two cryptographic signatures that do not move funds. Concordium issues a publicly verifiable badge while keeping personal information off-chain. Identity disclosure requires a court order and joint action by independent Privacy Guardians.

Atul Khekade, co-founder of XDC Network, said institutions 'need to know who stands behind an agent before they trust it with real money,' adding that Concordium gives verified agents accountable owners without putting personal data on-chain. Concordium CEO Boris Bohrer-Bowitzki added: 'Payment tells you an agent can spend. It doesn’t tell you who answers for it.'

Concordium already supports agent verification on Ethereum and Solana, but XDC becomes its first full-network integration. The partnership includes revenue sharing on each agent verification, while network fees are sponsored so developers do not need to hold CCD tokens.
