Celestia TIA Price Pumps on Fibre Throughput and Eden AI Hype

Key takeaways:

  • TIA's rally is narrative-driven, with Fibre and Eden hype outweighing stagnant usage and fees.
  • TIA's $33K annualized fees versus $646M market cap signal that fundamentals lag speculative pricing.
  • Surging TIA open interest to $358M raises liquidation risk; watch $0.62 support and overbought RSI.

Celestia’s TIA token has become one of the strongest-performing altcoins, trading near $0.7038 after a roughly 29.65% intraday gain and a 49% weekly advance. The rally pushed TIA about 73% above its September 18 close of $0.407, even as on-chain usage moved in the opposite direction.

Two Celestia-specific developments are driving sentiment. Earlier this month, Celestia reported that its Fibre system sustained an average of 3.07 terabits per second across 120 validators in a 143-second end-to-end benchmark. The test covered encoding, distribution, storage and validator signatures, with 2 GiB blobs encoded in 0.9 seconds compared with 6.8 seconds previously. Celestia framed the result as evidence Fibre can handle very large transaction data loads, though the first mainnet release is planned with a 128 MiB cap and not all test configurations will ship at launch.

The community is also discussing a Sustainable Blob Economy proposal designed to create paid capacity commitments and other data services. Final changes have not cleared governance. Additionally, Celestia announced Eden, an experimental EVM chain for AI-agent transactions that runs on Celestia for data availability and charges gas in TIA. Its first closed beta, Botfun, let agents launch and trade tokens while paying for model inference calls through the x402 payment standard. Derive’s V3 migration on October 8 added another 6% to TIA earlier in the month.

However, the rally is heavily leveraged. Perpetual futures open interest rose from about $83 million on September 23 to roughly $358 million on Friday. Daily data posted to Celestia fell from 2.77 billion bytes on September 18 to 2.05 billion bytes on October 15, while daily fees ticked up only from $82 to $96. That implies roughly $33,000 in annualized fees against a $646 million market capitalization.

From a technical perspective, TIA broke above the $0.60 area and traded close to $0.70. The $0.6217 level had rejected price on October 11 and 13, so a daily close above it is seen as confirmation. Immediate resistance sits around $0.70-$0.72, with $0.75 and $0.80 as next references. Support is at $0.60-$0.62, then $0.5589, $0.5081 and $0.4573. The 14-day RSI is above 71, indicating overbought conditions and a small bearish divergence against September’s higher momentum reading. TIA remains about 96% below its February 2024 peak near $20.91.
