XRP recorded approximately $145.6 million in spot trading volume against the South Korean won on October 15, surpassing both Bitcoin and Ethereum on South Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, Upbit. Bitcoin followed with $126.5 million in volume, while Ethereum reached $92.1 million on the same day. The gap means XRP’s volume exceeded Bitcoin’s by roughly 15% and Ethereum’s by around 58%, despite a broader market slowdown.
The trend extended into October 16, when trading activity across XRP, Bitcoin and Ethereum cooled but XRP maintained its leading position. Sustained dominance across consecutive sessions suggests that the interest was not limited to a single trading day. South Korea has long been an important market for digital assets, and XRP has historically attracted significant participation among local traders, making its performance on won-denominated pairs a key indicator of regional demand.
Market analysts noted that strong demand on Upbit could influence XRP’s broader market value and potentially support a further rally. However, higher spot volume does not automatically translate into rising prices. It does indicate that more capital is changing hands, which may improve liquidity and reflect stronger participation from both buyers and sellers in the South Korean market.
