Pump.fun Rolls Out Hyperliquid-Powered Perpetual Futures for BTC and ETH

Key takeaways:

  • PUMP's 5.35% drop despite perps launch signals investor skepticism over fee-based revenue and regulatory limits.
  • Bridge fees and 40x BTC leverage could deter cautious Pump.fun traders despite Hyperliquid liquidity.
  • Watch PUMP for sustained weakness if derivatives volume fails to offset memecoin launchpad cyclicality.

Pump.fun has expanded beyond its Solana memecoin launchpad roots by introducing a perpetual futures interface powered by Hyperliquid. Published terms updated on Oct. 17 show fees of up to 0.10% per order and a separate bridge transfer fee of up to 0.25%. The platform describes the service as a software interface that sends signed trading instructions to Hyperliquid, while Hyperliquid handles order matching, margin, funding payments, liquidations and settlement.

Traders can access Bitcoin contracts with up to 40x leverage and Ether contracts with up to 25x leverage without owning the underlying assets. The launch follows the discovery of perpetual trading data in Pump.fun's API on Oct. 9, including funding rates, open interest and trading volumes sourced from Hyperliquid's HyperCore mainnet. Access is restricted for users in the United States, including U.S. territories, and Ontario. The terms also warn that leveraged positions can lose all posted collateral and that Hyperliquid can liquidate positions automatically.

The fee schedule lists a builder fee of up to 0.10% of each order's notional value for positions that open, add to or close a trade. A second charge of up to 0.25% applies to asset transfers through the in-app bridge to or from Hyperliquid, charged on top of the bridge operator's own fees. Hyperliquid's trading, funding and one-time account activation fees remain separate. Pump.fun excludes perpetual orders from its general Platform Fee, which is 0.45% without a referral code and 0.40% with one.

Pump.fun previously added HyperEVM token trading against USDC on Aug. 26, giving traders near-zero spot fees and referral rewards. At the end of August, Hyperliquid recorded roughly $12.43 billion in daily perpetual futures volume. CoinGecko's year-to-date revenue figures through Sept. 15 placed Hyperliquid at $429.04 million and Pump.fun at $322.21 million, ranking them first and second among the adjusted comparison pool.

Despite the product launch, Pump.fun's PUMP token fell 5.35% over 24 hours to trade at $0.004320. The new derivatives product puts Pump.fun in competition with rival platform FOMO, which introduced Hyperliquid-based perpetuals in June 2026.
