Pi Network Integrates Fiat-to-PI Purchases in Wallet, Triggers 14% Price Surge

Pi Network has launched a direct fiat-to-PI purchase feature within its Pi Wallet, confirmed by the Pi OpenMainnet X account. The update allows verified users to buy PI using fiat currencies like AUD through credit cards, Apple Pay, or Google Pay via integrated partners Banxa and Onramper.

Dr. Nicolas Kokkalis, Stanford PhD and core founder, emphasized that the feature targets "fully verified users" to ensure security and compliance. Initial market response saw PI's price jump 14% to $0.5212 on OKX, with trading volume surging 243% to nearly $200 million. However, profit-taking triggered a correction, with PI stabilizing at $0.47678 (up 5% over 24 hours).

The update aims to reduce reliance on centralized exchanges, coinciding with over 500,000 new users migrating to Pi's mainnet. Analysts like Moon Jeff suggest this addresses PI's underperformance during altcoin rallies, calling it a bid to "reclaim its glory." Community members, including Pioneer account FireSide, now advocate for a complementary "Sell PI" feature.
