Ripple Co-Founder Larsen Transfers $175M XRP to Exchanges Amid Scam Warnings

yesterday / 09:34

Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen moved 50 million XRP (worth $175 million) from his personal wallets between July 17-23, 2025, as tracked by blockchain investigator ZachXBT. Approximately $140 million (40 million XRP) was routed to cryptocurrency exchanges and third-party service platforms, triggering market concerns about potential sell-offs. The remaining $35 million (10 million XRP) was split equally between two newly created wallets.

Analysts warn such large exchange inflows often precede price pressure, with XRP already showing volatility – retracing 12% in 24 hours after nearing its $3.40 all-time high. Social media activity spiked amid speculation, though Larsen hasn't commented on the transfers. His wallets retain over 2.81 billion XRP ($8.4 billion).

Concurrently, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse issued scam alerts on July 23, warning of YouTube impersonators promoting fake giveaways targeting XRP holders. Ripple's official account emphasized executives never solicit XRP transfers, citing increased fraud during market rallies.
