ROBA, The People's Robotics Platform, has announced the first publicly available version of its open, interoperable robotics ecosystem, positioning itself as "The Hugging Face of Robotics." The platform aims to redefine the robotics industry, which is projected to reach $218 billion by 2030, by empowering creators and eliminating proprietary stacks.
The current robotics landscape is described as fractured and closed, forcing new ideas to start from scratch. ROBA addresses this with a no-code workflow that simplifies development, eliminating the need for over 10 fragmented platforms previously required to build a single robot. The core commitment is to transparency and user control, ensuring full ownership of data, assets, and revenue.
Key components include ROBA Studio, which provides build support with AI frameworks, development tools, and a simulation library, and the ROBA Creator Hub, a marketplace for sharing and discovering robotics assets. Additionally, ROBA Link aggregates third-party tools and APIs to enhance the developer experience with agentic no-code capabilities.
The ecosystem is powered by the $ROBA utility token, used for paying for assets, rewarding contributors, and governing the platform via RobaDAO. Approximately 30% of the $ROBA token supply is allocated to ecosystem rewards, enabling automated royalties. For example, a student uploading a drone template and a startup licensing it can both earn tokens.
ROBA is backed by NextWave Incubator and strategic partners like Cogitent Ventures, with an initial raise of $300,000 at a $3 million fully diluted valuation. Leadership includes founder Farid Hossain, who has built robots since 2018, and interim CEO Sascha Reining, an ex-Accenture executive. The long-term vision is "Design-to-Doorstep Robotics," making personalized robotics accessible to anyone.
Farid Hossain stated, "We are creating a single unified platform where everything could come together, making robot creation simpler, faster, and more accessible through blockchain and AI."
