The Filecoin ecosystem has launched Filecoin Onchain Cloud, a decentralized cloud platform offering verifiable storage, fast retrieval, and fully onchain programmable payments. The announcement was made on November 18th, 2025, at DePIN Day in Buenos Aires, hosted by Fluence, in response to recent outages at major centralized cloud providers that have exposed Web3's reliance on vulnerable infrastructure.
Filecoin Onchain Cloud expands the Filecoin network into a programmable layer for verifiable cloud services, enabling developers to compose storage, retrieval, and payment logic onchain. Core services introduced include Warm Storage for keeping data online with onchain proofs, Filecoin Pay for automated usage-based payments, and Filecoin Beam for measured, incentivized retrievals, all accessible through the Synapse SDK. The platform also features Filecoin Pin, a developer toolkit for persisting IPFS content on Filecoin.
Early integrations span multiple projects, including the ERC-8004 community for storing agent identities and metadata, Ethereum Name Service (ENS) and Safe for trustless frontend deployment, KYVE for durable storage of Celestia and Story Protocol chain data, Monad through its AI Blueprint program, and others like Akave, Storacha, and Geo Podcasts. Storacha's Forge service, for instance, offers verifiable warm storage at $5.99 per terabyte, targeting petabyte-scale data for AI and DePIN applications.
Molly Mackinlay, CEO of FilOz, emphasized, "Filecoin Onchain Cloud brings onchain guarantees like verifiability, programmability, and openness to cloud-scale infra services... Builders deserve a cloud built on proofs, not promises!" Marta Belcher, President and Chair of the Filecoin Foundation, called it a huge milestone for the network. The platform is live on Filecoin testnet now, with a mainnet launch planned for January 2026.
