On December 2, 2025, Mt Pelerin, based in Geneva, announced the launch of personal crypto IBANs, a feature designed to bridge the gap between self-custodial cryptocurrency wallets and traditional banking systems.
This new service allows users to create a personal Euro (EUR) or Swiss Franc (CHF) IBAN attached to their crypto wallet, enabling seamless sending and receiving of bank transfers that are directly converted to or from cryptocurrency. The IBANs are located in Switzerland, which is part of the SEPA zone, making them compatible with European banking networks.
Key functionalities include receiving bank transfers from anyone, which are automatically converted into crypto held in the user's wallet, and sending bank transfers using crypto from the wallet. All transactions appear as standard bank transfers from an IBAN in the user's name, with cryptocurrency settlement handled in the background.
The IBAN is free to obtain, and conversions between fiat currencies (EUR, CHF) and the ZCHF stablecoin are also free. For conversions involving other cryptocurrencies, Mt Pelerin's standard fees apply. The feature supports over 30 cryptocurrencies across 15 different blockchains and can be linked to any self-custodial wallet.
Mt Pelerin emphasized that this innovation aims to make self-custody—a core principle of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies—more practical and integrated into everyday financial life. By providing an IBAN, wallets become universal accounts that can interact with both blockchain and traditional banking networks without third-party custody.
The service is available globally, except for a list of excluded countries, and can be accessed via app.mtpelerin.com and the mobile wallet app. Mt Pelerin's mission is to promote financial freedom by simplifying self-custody as a viable alternative to traditional bank accounts.
