Mantra CEO John Patrick Mullin has publicly clashed with crypto exchange OKX, accusing the platform of publishing "incorrect and misleading" information regarding the upcoming migration of the OM token. In a statement on X, Mullin urged OM holders to immediately withdraw their tokens from OKX and complete the migration independently through official Mantra channels, citing a lack of trust and coordination from the exchange.
The conflict erupted after OKX announced on December 5, 2025, that it would support the OM crypto migration with a conversion window scheduled for December 22-25, 2025. The exchange outlined plans to delist OM spot pairs, halt deposits and withdrawals, take an account snapshot, and process a token conversion at a 1:4 ratio, referencing Mantra's Proposal 17 and Proposal 26.
Mantra immediately refuted this timeline, calling the dates "technically impossible." The project stated that official governance documents mandate the migration can only begin after the ERC-20 OM token is fully deprecated on January 15, 2026, making any December 2025 window unworkable. Mullin criticized OKX for rearranging the intended process by placing the token split ahead of deprecation, contrary to Proposal 26's sequence.
Mullin expressed deep concern over the publication of what he termed "demonstrably false information," suggesting potential negligence or malicious intent. He revealed that OKX has not communicated with Mantra since April 13, 2025—the date of OM's catastrophic market collapse where the token lost over 90% of its value, erasing more than $6 billion in market capitalization within 24 hours.
The current dispute leaves OM users caught between contradictory information during a critical transition period as OM moves from its Ethereum ERC-20 format to a native Mantra Chain token. Mullin emphasized that other major exchanges have coordinated closely with Mantra on migration details, while OKX's silence and uncoordinated announcement have generated significant uncertainty. As of now, OKX has not publicly responded to Mantra's accusations, though it has indicated its schedule may face delays due to coordination requirements.
