Self-Proclaimed 'World's Smartest Man' Makes Bold Crypto Predictions, Declares Himself 'Son of XRP'

Key takeaways:

  • Social media hype around XRP's $100 target may create short-term volatility despite the influencer's poor prediction track record.
  • Labeling Bitcoin as a meme coin suggests a narrative shift that could temporarily boost speculative altcoin trading.
  • Investors should verify influencer claims against market fundamentals, as unverified predictions often lead to retail FOMO.

YoungHoon Kim, a South Korean social media personality who claims to possess the world's highest IQ of 276, has made a series of audacious cryptocurrency predictions in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), placing significant emphasis on XRP. Kim, who has amassed a large following by regularly discussing Bitcoin (BTC), XRP, and market trends, declared himself the "Son of XRP" and stated he was "born to send XRP to $100" and that "no one can stop" him.

In his posts, Kim asserted that "crypto is about to explode" and that an altseason had arrived "100%." He predicted that meme coins would be the first to surge and controversially labeled Bitcoin as "basically a meme coin." His central prediction for XRP is a price target of $100, which would represent a staggering 7,475% increase from its current price of approximately $1.32 (as of the report). He has previously forecasted XRP reaching a new all-time high by late 2025 and hitting $100 within five years.

However, Kim's track record casts doubt on his latest forecasts. A previous prediction from January 6 called for Bitcoin to reach $100,000 within 48 hours, but BTC instead fell from $93,747 to $91,099. Other missed targets include a prediction for BTC to hit $300,000 in early 2026 and for XRP to achieve a new all-time high by late 2025.

The validity of Kim's claimed IQ score of 276 has also been heavily scrutinized. A VICE investigation in July 2025 reported that high-IQ experts could not reproduce his score from his test data. Chris Leek of Mensa dismissed attempts to extrapolate a 276 score as "a nonsense," while Australian psychometrician Jason Betts estimated Kim's actual score does not exceed 175. Although supporters, including the GIGA Society Professional, have defended the figure, a supporting pre-print released in August 2025 was later withdrawn.
