TAIPEI, April 24, 2026 — HOYA BIT, a Taiwan-based cryptocurrency exchange, has become the world's first crypto exchange to obtain BSI ISO 14068-1 carbon neutrality certification. This milestone was marked by a personal visit from BSI Vice President Bryn Sutton and Global Head of Sustainability Aiman Ali to Taiwan for the certification ceremony, underscoring the importance BSI places on this achievement.
The certification requires full life-cycle carbon emissions disclosure, a defined reduction pathway, and third-party audits. HOYA BIT, led by Founder Zoe Peng, adopted the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) methodology and Gold Standard carbon offset projects, with a focus on supporting renewable energy initiatives that contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
BSI, the world's first national standards body, is recognized by global technology leaders like Microsoft and Google as a benchmark for digital governance compliance. By integrating carbon governance, information transparency, and third-party auditing into its operations, HOYA BIT has established a reliable framework for the digital asset industry.
"The digital asset industry can respond to market expectations for governance, accountability, and transparency in an internationally recognized and verifiable way," said Zoe Peng. "The key to industry maturity is not just functional innovation — it is consistently demonstrating, through verifiable actions, that a platform can be trusted."
HOYA BIT was also invited to participate in BSI's 125th anniversary celebration, signaling that Taiwan's digital asset industry has joined the global dialogue on sustainable governance. Moving forward, the exchange plans to improve carbon disclosure and offer users ways to participate in carbon reduction efforts, making sustainability a shared commitment.
