The company is now branding Ripple Custody as essential infrastructure for banks and regulated digital asset firms, moving beyond its previous role as a back-office service.
According to Ripple, the shift comes as financial institutions globally move from experimentation to full-scale production environments. Banks and asset managers are integrating blockchain tools directly into core operational systems, supporting treasury management, cross-border payments, and tokenization strategies. "Custody is the governance layer that everything else runs on," Ripple stated on social media, emphasizing that without secure storage and compliance controls, digital asset strategies cannot scale.
The updated platform now includes integrated wallet technology, real-time transaction monitoring, and enterprise-grade security features. Cloud-based security modules have been introduced to enhance cryptographic key management, allowing institutions to reduce hardware costs while maintaining high security standards. Additionally, Ripple has added staking capabilities within its custody environment, enabling institutions to participate in proof-of-stake networks without building their own validator infrastructure.
Global partnerships are strengthening Ripple's position in the custody market. The company has collaborated with institutions such as BBVA, DBS Bank, and Intesa Sanpaolo on custody-related initiatives. Ripple's strategy focuses on providing unified infrastructure that integrates with existing banking operating models, addressing the need for compliance and risk controls in regulated environments.
