Key takeaways:

  • Morgan Creek Digital's lead signals growing institutional appetite for RWA yield protocols.
  • Token warrant structure in seed round indicates strategic alignment with future utility token launch.
  • Nuva Finance's self-custodial model could disrupt traditional alternative asset platforms like iCapital.

Nuva Digital, a real-world asset (RWA) yield platform co-incubated by Animoca Brands and Nuva Labs (formerly Provenance Blockchain Labs), has raised $5.2 million in a seed funding round. The round was led by Morgan Creek Digital, with Ulu Ventures as a key participant, as confirmed by Anthony Moro, CEO of Nuva Digital, to The Block.

The seed round was completed in a single tranche and represents Nuva Digital's first external capital raise. The company began fundraising in the first quarter of 2025 and closed the round in April 2026. The investment was structured as a priced Series Seed equity round with a token warrant. Nuva Digital's valuation was not disclosed.

As part of the agreement, Sachin Jaitly, General Partner at Morgan Creek Digital, will join Nuva Digital's board. He will be joined by Mike Cagney, co-founder and executive chairman of Figure Technologies, and Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands.

The funds will be used to accelerate the development of Nuva Finance, the company's flagship platform for generating yields from tokenized real-world assets. Nuva Finance allows users to earn yield by depositing USDC into vaults that hold real-world assets. According to the Nuva Finance website, when a user deposits USDC, the vault issues nvAsset tokens representing proportional ownership. Vault-level returns are reflected in the nvAsset token price over time.

Last August, Nuva Digital announced the platform would initially offer nvYLDS and nvPRIME vaults, backed by Figure Technologies' on-chain RWA assets: YLDS, a U.S. SEC-registered yielding stablecoin security, and HELOCs, fixed-interest rate home equity loans issued by Figure Lending LLC, with over $16 billion funded to date.

The platform is self-custodial and aims to disrupt traditional alternative asset models, including firms like iCapital, CAIS, and Nasdaq Private Market, by allowing asset issuers and users to connect directly. Yat Siu of Animoca Brands stated: “Tokenized RWAs represent one of the most important opportunities in finance, with the potential to reach trillions of dollars in value within a decade by unlocking liquidity and accessibility for institutional-quality assets.”

Nuva Digital also plans to launch a NUVA “utility” token, but Moro declined to provide details on the token’s role or launch timeline. A timeline for the Nuva Finance platform launch was also not disclosed.
