MapleStory Universe (MSU), the blockchain-powered gaming platform from Nexon’s iconic franchise, has marked its first anniversary with impressive metrics and the ambitious launch of MSU 2.0. Since its debut on May 15, 2025, the ecosystem has recorded over 150 million on-chain transactions and surpassed 3.82 million registered accounts, signaling strong long-term player engagement.
The anniversary also comes with the introduction of MSU 2.0, a sweeping expansion that aims to transform how intellectual property, builders, and players interact. Central to this new phase is VIBE IP, a tech stack that provides builders with API access to gameplay data from MapleStory N and establishes an on‑chain economy on the Henesys chain, an Avalanche Layer-1. The initiative integrates AI‑powered “vibe coding” tools, allowing anyone to turn ideas into full‑scale products, while blockchain handles licensing, payments, and settlement seamlessly. The rollout is planned progressively between 2026 and 2027, with plans to eventually onboard additional Nexon IPs into an AI‑powered, on‑chain multiverse.
The launch year itself was remarkable. The pre‑launch Scroll NFT campaign minted approximately 1.7 million scrolls, recorded as the largest NFT mint in Avalanche network history. On launch day, Avalanche’s weekly active addresses surged by 549%. The marketplace currently sees over 446,716 daily average buyers and sellers, and MSU activity accounts for 23.3% of total Avalanche network usage. The native NXPC token was listed on seven major exchanges, including Binance, Bybit, Upbit, and Bithumb.
MapleStory N itself has seen sustained momentum. A winter update brought in 130,000 new users, with about three‑quarters being first‑timers, and drove in‑game spending to a post‑launch high, with player expenditures outpacing reward distributions. Accessibility improvements now allow casual users to enjoy the MMORPG experience with minimal blockchain friction. Looking ahead, the team will accelerate in‑game updates, including the eagerly awaited Black Mage content and a new MVP system to reward dedicated players.
Nexpace CEO Sunyoung Hwang emphasized the platform’s evolution: “What began as one of the largest launches in Web3 gaming has developed into a platform built for long‑term participation. … MSU has evolved beyond a single game into infrastructure for creation, commerce, and participation.”
