MapleStory Universe (MSU), the blockchain-based expansion of Nexon’s iconic MapleStory franchise, has announced two major initiatives as part of its MSU 2.0 phase. This marks the first major public activation since the project’s first year of live operations, which saw over 150 million cumulative on-chain transactions and approximately 49.1 million NXPC (equivalent to US$31 million) in ecosystem revenue.
The centerpiece is the MapleStory Vibe Camp, a global builder competition running from June 8 to June 29, 2026. Participants worldwide can create original games and experiences using official MapleStory Universe resources, vying for a share of a US$60,000 prize pool denominated in NXPC tokens. Winning entries will be selected from projects submitted through the new MSU Space, a dedicated builder hub developed in collaboration with Verse8, an AI-powered game creation platform.
MSU Space provides access to official MapleStory assets—characters, monsters, items, environments, and lore—alongside Verse8’s AI-assisted tools. Builders can iterate on concepts via natural language prompts and publish directly within the platform. The initiative aims to transform MapleStory from a closed IP into an open, programmable ecosystem, lowering barriers to creation.
Sun Young Hwang, CEO of Nexpace, stated: “Over the past year, MapleStory Universe has demonstrated that a large-scale game economy can successfully operate on-chain. The next chapter is about expanding who participates in building it.” Kevin Lee, CEO of Verse8, added that “creators can now experiment with MapleStory IP in a more accessible way and bring their ideas to life faster than ever before.”
The campaign introduces the ecosystem to a wider audience of AI-native builders and signals MSU’s shift from a single game experience to a broader platform supporting creation, distribution, and monetization.
