KuCoin Pay, the cryptocurrency payment arm of the KuCoin exchange, has broadened its reach in Latin America by integrating with popular local QR payment networks in Argentina and Peru. The expansion allows users to spend cryptocurrencies and stablecoins at merchants that accept the region’s widely used scan-and-pay systems.
In Argentina, KuCoin Pay now connects to the Transferencias 3.0 ecosystem, enabling interoperable QR code payments through platforms like Mercado Pago. In Peru, the service supports Yape and Plin—two dominant digital payment apps. The move targets the rising preference for QR-based transactions in everyday retail, food delivery, and transportation.
The integration is designed to make crypto spending feel native to local consumers by routing payments through familiar channels, reducing the need for separate crypto-specific infrastructure. Alicia Kao, Managing Director of KuCoin, emphasized that “real-world utility will define the next phase of crypto adoption,” highlighting the company’s commitment to building trusted, localized bridges between Web3 and traditional banking.
Latin America has become one of the world’s most active QR payment markets, and KuCoin Pay aims to capitalize on that trend, supporting further localization and real-world spending use cases as it expands across high-growth markets.
