Key takeaways:

  • Retail AI-powered trading on Revolut could amplify short-term BTC volatility and volume.
  • User liability for AI errors raises systemic risk of flash crashes from mass adoption.
  • Agentic trading trend marks a structural shift in crypto brokerage toward automated execution.

Revolut has connected its standalone crypto exchange, Revolut X, to third-party AI assistants, enabling customers to analyze markets, monitor portfolios, and place trades using natural language prompts, the fintech announced on Friday. The integration supports Claude, Gemini, OpenClaw, and Cursor, with users on other platforms able to link accounts through a universal skill or a command-line interface published on GitHub. No coding is required.

The new capability allows customers to request plain-text breakdowns of portfolio performance, pull real-time market data, set custom price alerts, and place market and limit orders without returning to the Revolut X app. Users can also describe a trading idea in natural language — a grid strategy on bitcoin over the last 90 days, for instance — and receive historical performance, risk metrics, and optimization results. However, users remain responsible for reviewing and approving all orders before execution. Revolut said it does not endorse or guarantee the third-party AI tools and is not liable for losses, missed opportunities, or erroneous trades caused by AI errors.

The launch comes amid a growing trend of agentic trading, where AI assistants are integrated directly into trading workflows. Gemini rolled out a similar agentic trading tool in April, Liquid launched Co-Invest to bring live execution into ChatGPT and Claude, and Robinhood has announced that crypto-focused agentic accounts will soon roll out in the U.S. after its agentic stock-trading beta.

Revolut said it has more than 75 million retail customers and over 16 million crypto users. Its cryptocurrency services are provided by Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd., licensed by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission as a crypto asset service provider under MiCA. The Revolut X exchange launched in May 2024 as a desktop-only platform for UK retail customers, expanded to 30 European markets in November 2024, and added a mobile app for UK and EEA users in March 2025. The AI integration marks another step in Revolut’s effort to make its standalone exchange more flexible and appealing to active traders.
