The FBI arrested 21-year-old Zyaire Dontaevious Zamarion Wilkins of North Lauderdale on Tuesday, charging him with participating in a video game malware conspiracy that drained at least $220,000 from cryptocurrency wallets. The criminal complaint alleges that Wilkins financed, procured, and helped market infected games, using game distribution as a conduit for wallet theft.
Between May 2024 and February, Wilkins and his co-conspirators allegedly launched eight malware-laced games, infecting approximately 8,000 customers and gaining unauthorized access to around 80 cryptocurrency wallets. The group promoted the games through Discord, Telegram, X, and LinkedIn, while bots specifically targeted individuals with significant crypto holdings, converting social marketing into a wallet-draining attack surface.
Investigative chats revealed that Wilkins purchased a remote access trojan for $10,000 and discussed “draining campaigns” with a primary developer. The case now moves to federal court, with a potential transfer to Washington state, as the allegations link consumer gaming malware to organized crypto-theft enforcement.
