Ripple's RLUSD Stablecoin Sees Dual Yield Campaigns from LendProtocol and Bybit

Key takeaways:

  • Ripple’s RLUSD yield push tightens stablecoin competition, potentially diverting liquidity from USDT and USDC.
  • LendProtocol’s capital-protected yield model could attract risk-averse DeFi participants, expanding XRPL’s real-world asset narrative.
  • Bybit’s rewards risk creating yield tourism; long-term adoption depends on sustained utility beyond campaigns.

Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin is experiencing a surge in utility as two major platforms launch yield-generating campaigns almost simultaneously. LendProtocol, a fixed-rate lending platform on the XRP Ledger, is now offering a 12% APR on both RLUSD and XRP deposits with daily payouts, no lock-up, and full capital protection. Meanwhile, Bybit has introduced an RLUSD Hold & Earn rewards campaign running through August 19, 2026, allowing eligible users to receive daily rewards just for holding the stablecoin on the exchange.

LendProtocol’s offering is significant because it provides a dollar-pegged asset with a guaranteed return that does not fluctuate with crypto market volatility. Depositors earn interest daily, with compounding pushing the effective annual yield to approximately 12.75%. The platform protects depositor capital by absorbing any losses from borrower defaults, using a 120% overcollateralization model that accepts BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, RLUSD, and USDT as collateral. As of the announcement, LendProtocol reported 13,713+ active lenders and 743 million XRP lent on the platform.

Bybit’s campaign, on the other hand, requires no staking or lock-up of RLUSD. Account balances are snapshotted 24 times daily, with rewards calculated on holdings between 1 and 5 million RLUSD. A loyalty multiplier increases rewards for longer holding periods. Bybit also slashed trading fees for the RLUSD/USDT spot pair—maker fees dropped from 0.10% to 0%, and taker fees to 0.04%—while launching a 50,000 RLUSD trading competition. The exchange stressed that rewards are promotional and not interest or investment returns.

Both moves come as RLUSD’s market capitalization has grown to more than $1.5 billion in 2026, with broader adoption by exchanges, banks, and other institutions. The campaigns highlight the increasing role of stablecoins in yield generation, bridging CeFi and DeFi on the XRP Ledger and beyond.
