CZ: Bitcoin Is the Ultimate Inflation Hedge and Financial Infrastructure

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has articulated a bold view of Bitcoin's evolving role, positioning it not merely as a speculative asset but as essential financial infrastructure. In a series of social media posts, CZ contrasted the functions of artificial intelligence and Bitcoin, stating, "AI is amazing, but it can’t protect you from inflation. Bitcoin can."

CZ emphasized that while AI drives productivity and efficiency across industries, Bitcoin's capped supply of 21 million coins makes it uniquely resistant to the dilution that plagues fiat currencies. He noted that the current AI investment boom—with billions pouring into data centers, chips, and software—could divert some capital from crypto markets, but he sees the two as complementary, not competitive. "AI increases productivity, Bitcoin preserves value," he explained.

The former CEO also argued that a paradigm shift is underway among long-term Bitcoin holders. Rather than buying in bear markets and selling in rallies, they increasingly treat Bitcoin as a core component of the financial system—something one doesn't "exit," just as no one talks about cashing out of the internet or AI. Spot Bitcoin ETFs have unlocked a new class of institutional and retail buyers, reinforcing this view.

CZ concluded that Bitcoin should be seen as critical infrastructure, a store of value unaffected by supply expansion, and a hedge against the steady erosion of purchasing power.
