A long-term price forecast sees Bitcoin reaching $100,000 by February 2027, but the path includes a volatile shake-up in August 2026. The call, widely circulated among traders, views the August turbulence as a temporary rough patch that will still allow the month to close positive, rather than the beginning of a deeper decline. The scenario rests on sustained demand over roughly 18 months, not a single breakout spike.
At the same time, a separate wave of uncertainty is hitting the crypto market. The CLARITY Act, a major U.S. regulatory framework for digital assets, may not reach the Senate floor before the August recess. Senate Majority Leader Thune signaled the bill faces procedural hurdles, cooling optimism that had built after a White House ethics agreement and Senator Lummis’ commitment to a deal. The delay introduces fresh risk, as markets had begun pricing a smooth passage.
Crypto analyst Dan Gambardello noted that while politicians debate, Wall Street’s biggest banks are already building infrastructure as if the law has passed. JPMorgan, Bank of America, and Citi announced a shared tokenized deposit network. Visa and Mastercard launched a stablecoin backed by over 140 companies. Charles Schwab is openly targeting Coinbase’s market share, and Vanguard posted its first Head of Digital Assets role. These moves, Gambardello argued, show that institutions with the best legal and lobbying resources are betting on crypto’s future regardless of the CLARITY Act’s timeline.
Technically, Bitcoin is trading in a consolidation range between $60,000 and $66,000, following a decline from the $82,000–$83,000 region. The Ultimate Oscillator reads neutral, but a bearish Stochastic RSI crossover suggests near-term selling pressure. Resistance sits at $65,500–$66,000 and $67,500–$68,500, while support holds at $62,500–$63,000 and major support at $59,000–$60,000. A failure of the CLARITY Act to pass could push Bitcoin toward the lower support band, though the $100K forecast still sees the long-term trajectory intact if the August 2026 shake-up is absorbed successfully.
