Cardano has officially transitioned from the van Rossem intra-era hard fork to the planning phase of the Dijkstra era, according to a weekly update from Intersect, a member-based organization in the Cardano ecosystem. The van Rossem upgrade, enacted on July 18, brought improvements to Plutus performance, ledger consistency, and node security, laying the groundwork for the next major step.
The Dijkstra era will introduce Ouroboros Leios and is expected to roll out in phases, starting with Nested Transactions and Linear Leios, followed by Peras. Intersect noted that the Haskell node team aims to deliver the first two phases to mainnet by the end of 2026. The scope of the initial hard fork is still being finalized, with community input actively sought through collaboration between Product Committee representatives and ecosystem contributors.
Additionally, a new parameter update action has opened for voting, the on-chain Constitutional Committee election results are being audited, and the Constitutional Amendment Portal has launched for community alpha testing. A working group has proposed naming the next hard fork after Alexander Esgen, though an existing on-chain proposal suggests Fabian von Bergen, with feedback now invited from the community.
