Key takeaways:

  • Japan's regulatory clarity enables XRP loyalty point conversions, strengthening its role as a compliant utility token.
  • SBI's deepening XRP integration suggests institutional pipeline that could support long-term price floors above $1.00.
  • Delayed 2026 launch implies minimal short-term flow impact; watch for additional Japanese retail crypto partnerships.

Starting July 31, 2026, Japanese credit card provider Orient Corporation (Orico) has integrated cryptocurrency redemption into its loyalty points program. Through a partnership with SBI VC Trade, Orico cardholders can now exchange Orico Points for Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), or XRP on the VCTRADE platform. The redemption rate is set at 1,200 Orico Points per ¥1,000 worth of crypto.

The Orico card earns points at a base rate of 1.0%, which increases to 2.0% for new cardholders during the first six months. This marks the first time digital assets have been offered as a redemption option within the Orico Points program, expanding SBI’s initiative to bridge traditional finance with digital assets. For XRP, the integration creates a straightforward way for millions of Japanese consumers to gain exposure through everyday spending, potentially normalizing the token and driving long-term adoption.

XRP’s price is currently trading near $1.05, consolidating in a range between $1.00–$1.10. Analysts note that sustained institutional adoption, including moves like this loyalty program, could support a longer-term push above $2.00, though short-term resistance sits at $1.08–$1.10 and key support at $1.00.
